At the surface

Now descending.

This site is read by depth, not by year. Work still in progress floats at the surface; the longer ago a piece was finished, the deeper it has sunk.

Still, Here

Psychiatric ward · three years, once a month

I went into the ward for one month as a locum doctor, then kept going back every month for three years. Diptychs that set portraits beside belongings and handwriting left uncorrected.

최혜원 · Yusuam, Jeju

For thirty years I listened to people’s stories in a consulting room. I held two solo exhibitions of underwater photographs, and now I live in Yusuam on Jeju and photograph people on land. I am still learning how listening differs from looking.
